How It Works

This tool parses your HTML input using a custom tokenizer and reformats it with proper indentation. All processing happens entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server.

• Format — parses the HTML and re-indents it with consistent spacing (2 spaces, 4 spaces, or tabs)
• Minify — removes unnecessary whitespace to produce the smallest possible output
• Syntax Highlighting — the output uses color-coded highlighting for tags, attributes, values, comments, and doctypes

About HTML

Formatting Rules

• Block-level elements (<div>, <p>, <section>, etc.) are placed on new lines with indentation
• Inline elements (<span>, <a>, <strong>, etc.) are kept inline when they contain only text
• Void elements (<br>, <img>, <input>, etc.) are self-closing and do not increase indent depth
• <script> and <style> content is preserved as-is to avoid breaking code
• HTML comments are preserved and indented to match their context
